THE GREAT MAKEOVER
Today,
makeovers have become very popular; we see them
on talk shows all the time. We see the before
and after pictures and say, “Wow! What a
difference! You look so much better.” But the
truth is that we can dress ourselves up on the
outside, wear expensive clothing, and even be
rich, and never be completely happy.
In our
lives there is a cavern (or a void) that seems
never to be filled. This void in our lives is
the result of sin. Everyone is born with this
sin (Romans 3:23). This void in our souls is
crying to be filled, and we try by our feeble
attempts to fill it with drugs, drinking, music,
money, clothes, and many other things but they
always seem to come up shallow. God ordained
that this void could only be filled completely
with
Jesus Christ.
God sent His son to die on the Cross for this
void. Now if you’ll look back to the cover you
will see my picture before and after and you
will see a definite outward change, but what
really matters is the inward change in my heart.
This came
about in a very simple way:
1st
, I realized that I was a sinner.
“for all
have sinned and come short of the Glory of
God”(Romans 3:23)
You know that
you’re a sinner, don’t you?
2nd
, I realized that because of this sin, I earned
death.
“For the wages
of sin is death,”(Romans 6:23)
This not only
refers to physical death but also to a spiritual
death (Which is Hell).
3rd
, I saw that God made a way for me to escape the
spiritual death and Hell.
“But the
gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
Now I know that
God’s word says that Salvation is a gift. A
gift is something that you do not earn. For
example, if you go to work, your employer does
not give you money freely, you earn it.
Salvation is not work; it is a free gift,
unconditional, without any ties.
4th
, I
realized that I needed this free gift.
“That if thou
shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath
raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
(Romans 10:9)
Now I have a few
questions for you:
Do you know
you’re a sinner?
Do you believe
in your heart that Jesus Christ rose from the
dead?
Are you willing
to trust Christ and His resurrection for the
forgiveness of your sins?
This means
giving your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ.
If so, then you
need to talk to God in prayer:
(Pray this
simple prayer from your heart)
Lord, I know
that I am a sinner and, I know in my heart that
Christ’s resurrection, from the dead, paid for
the forgiveness of my sins. I believe this in my
heart, and I am confessing with my mouth the
Lord Jesus as my Savior.
